Hello all! well this is my 10th year of raw journey.  It has definitely been a process.  With ups and downs and highs and lows.  But i always manage to come back to it though as that is how i feel the best.

I am in the need of being good.  I have thyroid and adrenal and hormone issues that come back if i dont stay raw and lately it has been tough to stick with the raw and some bad things have cropped back into my diet.  oops! with it being around holiday time especially my husband keeps bringing stuff here that i dont buy! ack! yes, it is still hard to avoid stuff if it is here.  i do ok if it is not around but if it is in the house, i am still weak and will eat it. So thank you michelle for letting me blog here and stay accountable to myself and to anyone who might happen to read this.

I have a family of 6.  this is my 2nd marriage.  I have 2 kids from my first marriage.  They are high raw vegans.  My step kids are not raw, or vegan.  ha! and my husband well he will pretty much eat whatever i make.  It is an interesting family mix.

I have a goal weight of 137.  That is what i was down to before i had any children and before i got married.  This was after years of being heavy and having a hard time losing weight. I lost weight around 40 pounds going high raw but then after getting married got pregnant after a month.

My goal for now is also to be basically all raw with some days of having lentils in there.  I sometimes feel the need 4 something cooked and also something with a little highre protein level.

I hope to also enter my food into fit day.  Ideally i would like to keep my calories below 2000 and my fat around 15% or less.  This has been one way that i am able to do that.  otherwise, it can get up there..

Today we had company over.  lots of tempting food, that i shouldn't be eating and because of knowing i would be journaling and weighing myself again, i didn't eat anything that i shouldn't.  yay.  accountability is really key for me.  I know in my mind what i need to do and sometimes i am strong enough to follow trhough but sometimes that is not enough.

November 30, 2009

Last day of November already! wow.  can't believe it.  This year has just been flying.  Earlier this year i was in a fairly bad car accident.  I totaled out my car and sadly also messed up my knees.  it has been an uphill battle to try to get them back to normal.  They are still not there but getting closer.   This year has been filled with lots of massage therapy, physical therapy, dr, chiropractor appointments.  Honestly i will be glad and very thankful when my body is totally healed and i can do all the things i love once again.  This year has been challenging.  I am a very active person by nature and over the last 8 months i have had well to become more of a couch potato.  Next year i want to do all those things that i love doing and had planned on doing this summer.  Getting back into running and i would love to run a half or full marathon (in may!) will have to see, biking, hiking, i really want to play on a ladies soccer team this summer.  Life is too short to not live out the adventures and things i love.  Hoping to talk my hubby into some cross country skiing this winter.  will have to see.  He is not as active or outdoorsy as i am.  I told him for my birthday next year i want to go on a really long bike ride maybe 30 + miles.  Hoping to inspire him to become more active so he will be ready.  Also want to take belly dance lessons and ballet.  Trying to get hubby to take ballroom dancing with me as well.  Yup that is pretty much my life.  I do enjoy some non active things - like scrapbooking. I make scrapbooks for each of the kids and the family.  so 5 books all together.  all the time.  it keeps me busy that is for sure! and i am behind.  ha! someday will get it all done and caught up.  It is a fun hobby though :)

1 1/2 cups lentil vegetable soup

150.0

ugh.  i had been down to 144 a month ago :( I really can't deviate from said plan or i gain weight really easy and despite working out a ton i have to FIGHT for each pound.  At my heaviest b4 starting raw 10 years ago i had sat around 170 for a long time! ugh! i worked out, dieted, and it just never seemed to budge no matter what the heck i did.  I am thankful for raw.  But wish sometimes that i could sneak treats too. But obviously judging by the weight, I can't. It always comes back if i dont stay true to my diet.  Oh well! so this is my starting point. 13 to 15 pounds to lose.  Ok body time to release the weight again!

December 1, 2009

a new month! yay.  full of new possibilities :) almost coming up to the end of the roman calendar year.  hard to believe.

I am feeling very crampy in my stomach today.  Last week i had some popcorn.  :( Not only is this not raw, but i am also allergic.  Yes, it was a not so brilliant thing to do.  But it has been so long since i had it and my husband was eating it and well i just really wanted it.  normally i get really congested and runny nose.  That didn't happen this time.  Just really bad stomach cramps and bloated and well digestion not working so well.   That has been the case since last week the day after i ate it.  Reminder to self: DONT DO THIS! I have been feeling not so great since i did it. still reaping the consequences.  hoping it releases out soon and i can find some normality and relief again.  allergies are definitely no fun!

Tuesdays i get up and start the day by teaching yoga.  It is a nice way to start the day.  Although i am not super fond of getting up at 5 am! eek! way to early 4 me.  I have been teaching this class now though for 9 months.  the 5 am thing just doesn't get any easier.  I like to sleep until 7 am.  Not real late but still a couple hours later than that.  Sometimes it is hard 4 me to wind down.  I teach at night and then my body is all jazzed up and hard to fall asleep.

I am thankful for tuesday though.  It is my light day and today i plan on taking the kids to the library and the park this afternoon.  should be fun.  I miss being a stay at home mom.  I do love my job, but honestly i would rather be at home with my kids.  I got to do that for 6 years, until my first marriage was starting to collapse and i could see i needed to find a career.  Maybe someday i can be a stay at home mom again.  I would love to teach group fitness still - just after my babies are well teenagers or something.  So not for awhile. I miss being able to go on field trips and go to the park or arrange play dates or just have more time with them.  they are growing up SO quickly.

Anyhoo.  yesterday was a good day.  I felt good about how it went. I was really hungry when i got home from teaching last night.  But refrained from eating as it was after 7 pm.  I would like to have my eating done by 6 pm. and not later.  Dont really want food to be sitting in my belly so late and b4 bed.  Anyhow i have been doing that for awhile.  But was glad that i was able to avoid the food last night.  Me and hubby sat down and had a couple of hours of nice chatting b4 bed.  Was good.

food log:

December 2, 2009

Yesterday i was just crazy hungry.  I did end up eating a couple of raw crackers with some almond butter on them last night too at bed time.  so after i had already sent michelle my journal.  I had not intended on eating anything else.  but i was starving.  The tea was not cutting it last night.

Wishing watermelon was in season.  I am still having digestive issues from the popcorn last week. :( bummer! My husband said i am never ever eating popcorn again.  He is right.  Ha!  i need him to be strong 4 me if i am feeling weak that is for sure.  Have been having him massage my tummy, last night had him rub some essential oils on there as well.  Drinking lots of water.  Just want to get things moving again.  Darn it! I am kicking myself now.  Those 30 minutes of pleasure for eating the stuff (i am allergic to it) was definitely not worth it. sigh.  lesson learned.  Hubby will help me out now if i have a weak moment. He normally doesn't interfere with food stuff BUT this has been going on 7 days today.  normal for me.  Takes awhile for allergens to run out of my system.

Last night it SNOWED here! I am so not looking forward to going out and teaching.  I really dislike driving in the snow. Wish it was the weekend then i could take the kids out sledding probably wont today. Dont know if we will get time or not.  I homeschool my kids as well.  Can't remember if i have wrote that on here or not.  So somedays we spend less time than others.  really it depends on how well they work with me.  For my son we use COVA (colorado virtual academy) for my daughter we are just doing some leap frog stuff and some coloring books.  She is working on learning letters and numbers.  Shei s getting better at them! yay.  Anyhoo.  we may get time to go out after my noon hour class.  the thing is I REALLLY dont like cold weather.  ha! the kids love it though! If i had my preference we would move to arizona or florida or hawaii or Israel.  But unless my husband who loves experiencing the 4 seasons has a change of heart we will probably stay here in good old colorado well forever.

Am hoping to go out and do some scrapbooking tonight.  my consultant does an open house and you can come over and work there on weds nights.  The only bad thing is i have to go over right after my ZUMBA class so i dont exactly smell the best.  ha! can only stay for a couple of hours.  she goes until 10.  BUT i have to get up at 5 am on thursdays.  ugh! someday i would like to not have to get up so early.  I really like to sleep until about 6:30 to 7 am.  So not super late.  but later than 5 am.   Weds i get off from getting up that early and i LOVE it! it feels so good to sleep in a little bit later!!! :)

Made some raw pizza crusts for tonight.  they are still on the dehydrator, hopefully they are done at dinner time.  want to turn them into some pizzas that a friend of mine has just raved about.  woudl like to experience for myself.  put that with some salad.  should be a fabulous dinner.  (or i am hoping anyway!) that is one thing i need to get back to eating mroe greens.  I do really well with that if i am not working, but when i am working it is hard to find the time to sit down and eat a salad or make a salad! i just need to make myself and my families health a priority.  I do kind of, but eating greens is important! and definitely could do more of it.  all of us.  will try to work on that.  now that i am blogging again i can see areas that i can improve on.

Also started up doing the facial brushing again.  going to try to do it daily.  i read an article by tonya zavasta.  she says that the older you get the faster your skin begins to age.  i would like to have young and youthful skin.

oh after i get my digestion going again, i will start weighing myself daily.  until then! i am still feeling bloated and having cramps in my stomach. so hopefully next week.

did facial and body brushing - yup :)

An example of what the kiddos eat: (this was today - it does change daily and they do get some cooked food, they just eat a high raw diet)

Eliyahu -
green smoothie, flax veggies crackers with almond butter, juice plus vitamins, vit d3 (yes i choose to supplement at least in the winter season), personal pan size raw pizza, pineapple/apple/romaine lettuce juice, 4 cutie (orange), small salad with veggies + ranch, choc banana ice cream in gluten free ice cream cone, gluten free brownie

Chana -
green smoothie, flax veggie crackers with almond butter, juice plus vitamins, vit d3, personal pan size raw pizza, pineapple/apple/romaine lettuce juice, small salad with veggies + ranch, choc banana ice cream in gluten free ice cream cone, gluten free brownie, 1 cutie (orange)

Recipe for raw chocolate pie that we love :) i choose not to add the crust though.  it is delicious without it. Crust:Add to food processor1.5 cups almonds, soaked over night, rinsed and drained3/4 cup dates, pits removed 3/4 cup dried red sour cherries1 tsp coconut oil1 dropper-full chocolate raspberry liquid stevia

Puree to form a mass.Press into springform pan, lined with unbleached parchment paper on the bottom.

Filling: Add to food processor:
4 ripe organic avocados
3/4 cup coconut oil, liquified

Puree:
Add:1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup agave
1 tbs vanilla extract

Puree for a few minutes. Pour into crust. Refrigerate for at least several hours.

RAW PIZZA CRUST:  BUCKWHEAT SUNFLOWER SEED CRUST
1 CP BUCKWHEAT GROATS (CAN SUBSTITUTE OAT GROATS)
1 CP SUNFLOWER SEEDS SOAKED AT LEAST 1 HR TO OVERNIGHT
3 TBSP GROUND FLAX SEEDS
2 1/2  TBSP FRESH HERBS SUCH AS OREGANO, PARSLEY, & THYME
1 TBSP LEMON JUICE
¼ TSP RED PEPPER FLAKES (OPTIONAL)-I OPTED OUT & WAS STILL VERY YUMMY
¼ TSP SALT
¼ TSP PEPPER
1 TB NAMA SHOYU

Put all your ingredients in your food processor with S blade & process on high for approx 30 seconds or until a unfied chunky batter forms. Scoop batter onto your dehydrator fitted with a teflex sheet and/or parchment paper works great. Makes one giant crust or approx 3 personal pan pizza sized crusts. Dehydrate at 110 F for 15-18 hrs. I usually let mine go the whole time of 18hrs and they end up tasting more like real baked pizza crusts. Flip halfway thru the time at 9hrs.Then you can flip them directly onto the mesh of the dehydrator and toss the parchment paper or set the teflex aside if u have it.   I made the sun dried tomato sage sauce and spread it onto each crust, then a little pesto, and then whatever toppings you like. It was MMM-mmmm MMM-mmmm Good! My fave so far! And because its so filling U might only be able to eat half of a personal pan size, that was my experience.

SUN DRIED TOMATO SAGE SAUCE
1/4 cp sun-dried tomatoes
1 TB fresh parsely
1 cp filtered water
1 tsp namashoyu or to taste
2 cps roma tomatoes
1 tsp nutritional yeast
½ cp sun-dried tomato soak water
½ tsp fresh oregano
1 TB beets
½ tsp fresh thyme
1 TB olive oil
½ tsp salt
1 TB fresh basil
¼ tsp black pepper
1 ½ tsp rubbed sage

1. Soak sun-dried tomatoes in at least 1 cp filtered water for at least 30 minutes. Strain & save liquid.
2. Place sun-dried tomatoes, roma tomatoes, soak water, beets, olive oil, all the spices (i.e.-oregano etc…), nama shoyu, nutritional yeast, salt, and pepper in blender and blend on high for 40 seconds or until smooth.
Optional: some people add agave nectar to sweeten the sauce a little bit.

RAW PESTO
1 cp basil
1 TBSP pine nuts
3/4 cp avocado,mashed
1 TBSP lemon juice
1 TBSP nutritional yeast
1 TSP minced garlic
1/2 TSP salt
pinch of cayenne
2 TBSP filtered water or to taste
Blend in processor until desired consistancy is reached by adding water as necessary...

Thursday.  ack! honestly my least favorite day.  i teach 5 classes and maybe soon 6 on thursday.   I just get fried.  It is too much time away from home. And honestly just too many classese to do in one day.  But such is the way of it.  We keep perservering.  some day maybe i can rearrange my schedule around but then it comes down to what would i let go of.  I care abotu all of my students and have relationships with many of them.  I dont know.  i have it out there for a some day though. Plus i can't afford to do less right now.  That is ok.  It is what it is! When i was going through divorce and single i taught 4 to 6 classes DAILY, monday through friday and then sometimes 2 or 3 on sunday.  I managed to survive! ha! and that is when i was teaching a lot of spinning classes.  I can't teach spinning right now because of my knee! :( hopefully someday soon will be able to get back to it :) I miss it.  It gives you a incredible workout! and pushes your body to limits that it did not know that it could go.

Down a pound today.  i am excited to see the scale starting to go down.  Still feeling all bloated and gassy and digestive track is STILL not working right.  Geesh, ok it HAS been a week now body.  Will you please start working right.  Hubby is still massaging my belly and i have been doing lots of yoga poses that help with digestion. I am going to try to drink some more apple/green juice today, maybe that will help.  It is going a little bit, but i can tell it is clogged up.  Darn POPCORN! ack!  Anyhoo.  Hopefully the weight will come down and the bloating will go away.  I can tell the extra weight is all in my belly :( ugh.  That is the worst feeling.

149.0 (-1.0) YAY!

December 4, 2009

I lost another 1 1/2 pounds. woohoo :) so glad to see the number coming down. now if i can get back under the 145 mark.  I feel really bloated and chunky at 150 :( still not the body i want at 145 BUT i dont feel like i have as big of belly.  In the group fitness world, especially as the teacher, you want to look like somebody that will inspire the people. I want that for myself ANYWAY, still dreaming of those 6 pack abs.  With as much as i work out darnit! i should be able to have them.  But no, that is always the last thing to go.  I would like to get into the 130s, or maybe 120s.  Will c where it stops.  just going to keep trying to stay almost 100% or 100% raw.  need to get into making salad dressings again.  but will do sometime.  When i have MORE time!! Just always so darn busy! makes it tough.

Today is full of work, shopping, cleaning, making food.  Then driving up to my friends house tonight for Sabbath.  (Shabbat) Tomorrow night we are going to a work party.  SO wont be blogging tomorrow, but will send it Sunday morning, If i can remember everything i ate.  ha! if not, well sunday. My friend that i am staying with is also doing raw.  She is trying to lose a bunch of weight and also get better health.  Was trying to encourage her to blog.  Will see.  She has been trying high raw for around 1 month or so now.  Fun to share recipes and stuff. tonight i think i am making a raw lasagna to bring to share and some kind desert. not sure what though.  Maybe some fruit salad.  I dont know.   Maybe something more fun.  ha.  Since she is new to raw it is more fun 4 her to get to have "gourmet" raw.  Honestly i have been doing this for so long that i prefer more simple with some gourmet once in awhile.   Need to get some sea crackers going - me and my daughter LOVE those! and also promised the kids more raw pizza so need to get those going on the dehydrator today.  Told them we could have more pizza on sunday.  The lasagna is REALLY good :)   Definitely one of the better ones i have had.

My knees are really hurting today.  sigh.  happens at the end of the week.  My knee cap on the right keeps popping off track, went to the chiro this a.m. and he popped it back in.  Hopefully will feel better tomorrow :) My digestion seems to be trying to turn back on now.  Thank goodness.  not working 100% yet.  My husband is still doing the belly massages for me.  BUT it is good to see everything trying to work again.  1 1/2 weeks of this and bloated and painful stomach cramps was definitely not worth the popcorn that i ate. WONT be doing that again!  The things we do to ourselves.  We know what we should do but then sometimes our urges tempt us to do that which we shouldn't and then just have to try to remember oh yeah.  not going to do THAT again! Hopefully we remember right?

Things i am noticing physically : when i am all raw or near all raw - i always feel really energetic and happy. That is how i am feeling again.  My moods dont get crazy.  like they do if i eat junk.  It is nice to just feel laid back and able to giggle and have fun.  :)  other than that.  Dont know.  My face looks clear.  which is nice.  If i eat junk, i also break out with acne - ugh! I am doing the face brushing every day now and using Tonya Zavasta moisturizer.  I was using her masque as well BUT am out and haven't had any $ to buy any more.  Am hoping to get some more soon! I LOVE that stuff! it works great, it is natural and smells wonderful! if you havent check her out.  google beautifulonraw and you will find her.  She also has a new shampoo line available which i plan on getting and trying! That is one thing.  The longer i have been on this journey, the more sensitive my body gets to crap - ie. chemicals.  can't use anything chemical basically.  The Physical therapist had put some kind of medicinal anti-inflammatory stuff on my knee and zapped it in there with a battery and well i ended up with a rash breakout all over my neck, chest and back :( also on my knee.  it is still there and i haven't seen him for 2 weeks! am going to go and get a ion cleanse today.  Hopefully that will get rid of some of the garbage he injected into my body.  ugh! i had a feeling that would happen.  oh well.  it will come out right??

Well have a great Saturday everyone! i hope your journeys are going well and you are finding the happiness in your life that you deserve :)

Another day! it has been SOOOO cold here! ugh! I really do wish i lived somewhere that it was warm year long.

Yesterday was a little bit tougher while not being at home.  Just because i couldn't make myself regular stuff.  Today am going to get some pizza crusts and sea crackers on the dehydrator.  Didn't get that done on friday.  Just ran out of time!

At my ion cleanse on friday had a lot of joint stuff, liver, yeast and some gall bladder stuff that dumped out.  I was surprised about the yeast and gall bladder.  It has been joint, liver, and lymphatic system.  But now i have been going about doing the skin brushing pretty much daily so maybe that has helped that.  I have been going and doing these, trying to reduce inflammation out of my knees because of the accident but also have the bonus of detoxing other stuff as well.  This time though i am trying to get rid of the rash that appeared on my chest, neck and back from whatever that medication the PT was zapping into my knee.  I told him after a month of having a rash that his medicine was making me have an allergic reaction and after that he said that he couldn't help me out anymore.  weird.  Well whatever.  I am sorry if zapping me iwth medicine is the only thing that you know how to do to help my knee.  So now i am stuck trying to get that stuff out of my body. It did help, the ion cleanse, the rash is a little less now.  I can see i will need to go and do at least one or 2 more though to hopefully get it gone!

I also had succumbed to putting some chemical shampoo on my hair.  The hair stylist totally ruined my hair :( long story.  But it was fried basically.  A friend of mine also a hair stylist gave me that, i used it a few times.  I noticed it was making me feel weird. So i stopped.  I got some Burts bees.  and am hoping to buy tonya zavastas new line of shampoo.  I hope this month! but am sure that i also need to detox that junk out of my system as well.  My body is so super sensitive to anything not natural. I dont know why i agreed to that stuff.  I guess because i want my knee to feel better and would also like my hair to look nice again.  someday!!!!

oh yesterday, i actually walked for 2 hours.  we walk to synagogue and then back, and then went out for a longer walk.  Yes despite the cold.  Tried taking the kiddos to the park but was too cold ;) oh, Then the day b4, i had a small piece of vegan gluten free challah and a swig of grape juice.  had already sent blog on before i had that.

Got a letter from my insurance company last night that said my money for my bodily injury on my policy had been exhausted and to basically have a nice day.  lovely.  I sent my attorney a note to find out what happens now.  my knees are not yet better from the accident but the other girl who CAUSED the accident, her policy doesn't pay a dime until i settle and say i am as good as i am gonna get.  Now doesn't that stink.  Ok.  Well hopefully he will tell me something good.  I am hoping.  The chiro has been paid from august and yes i have seen him a lot since then.  The massage therapist is still owed money.  I still need to go back to the orthopedic dr.  So now what the heck??? hmmmmmmmm.... He was still talking surgery.  BUT i am hopeful for not having that happen.  I am getting more of my range of motion back in my knee now.  But there is still pain and the knee cap still goes off track and my quadricep is till not full strength since i had 7 months with ZERO range of motion in my right knee.  Made it hard to do anything to strengthen it when it just would not move. hmmmm.... Hoping to get to work with this girl that i think can really help me get this finished up.  Honestly i want to be better by the END of this year.  I am tired of this and want to start out the roman calendar year without this hanging over my head still. Thank you State Farm for adding more stress to my life! ha!

Also trying to contemplate maybe a change of career - not because i dont love what i do. I honestly do love waht i do.  But i want to be AT HOME with my kids more. I love my kids and they are only going to be around for a short period in the whole spectrum of things.  I want to still workout of course but not have to go at a specific time.  contemplating - personal training, genealogist, medical transcription, massage..... Or maybe i will just keep on with what i am doing as well.  Hard to think about giving it up.  But i see time flying by with my kids adn well i dont want to miss out on a moment of it! Such a hard choice to make - definitely one i am goign to chew on for awhile b4 committing to anything finally.

Anyhoo, yup that is what is going on in my world today.  did a lot of cleaning today.  deep cleaned my sons room.  lots and lots of laundry! ugh! 7 loads! yeah.  that is a lot.  Seems like it never gets done! but some of that was bedding.  dishes.  making some more pizza crusts and also some raw sea crackers.  clean the fridge.  sound exciting??  Did make it out sledding with the kids for a bit :) that was fun.

food log:

smoothie - peaches, cranberries, strawberries, bananas, flax seed, Vita-mineral green, orange juice

bowl of chocolate banana ice cream - cacao, raisins, small handful of almonds, 1 brazil nut, frozen bananas, and a little water blended - mmmm! hopefully that will keep my chocolate craving at bay for awhile!

3.6 Raw Food Diets

A diet much closer to the Life Science regimen is the raw food vegetarian diet. People who are "raw fooders" eat a variety of foods, but all are eaten uncooked.

Some raw fooders eat uncooked grains, and others include raw milk, raw cheese, and raw cream in their diet. Many times raw fooders will concoct entrees and main dishes that contain 15 to 20 ingredients, all chopped and mixed together. They often overeat on salads and raw vegetables and neglect fruits. They consume salad dressings, raw oils, and various nut butters with their plates of raw vegetables.

They rely heavily on avocados, dried fruits, and nuts, sometimes to excess. They are often enamored with raw juice therapy, and drink pints and quarts of fresh-squeezed juices each day.

One of the main problems with the raw food diet followed by most people is that its adherents eat far too little fruit and far too many nuts, fats, oils and seeds for their fuel. Raw fooders who do not make fruit the major part of their diet will overeat on nuts, oils, salad dressings, or other concentrated foods.

They are on the right track, but may fall short when it comes to food combining or avoiding inappropriate raw foods (such as onions, garlic, raw cheese, raw honey, etc.).

Advantages: The raw food diet, when it does not include dairy products or other relatively-indigestible foods, can promote the highest level of health. The diet is supers charged with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids—all in an easily-digestible form. By eating foods raw, you avoid totally-inappropriate foods such as meats, junk foods, breads, and so forth.

Disadvantages: The raw food diet may still include certain noxious vegetables such as garlic and onions. Honey and raw dairy products may be included. An over-reliance on salads, salad dressings, and nuts is common. Weight loss may occur too rapidly if not enough fruits are included.

Compared to the Life Science Diet: The raw food diet comes very close to the Life Science diet. If all herbs, spices, and seasonings are avoided, as well as all animal products, the raw food diet can be said to be 90% similar to the Life Science diet. When raw foods are eaten in proper combinations and according to our fruitarian biological heritage, then this diet closely approximates the Life Science diet of raw fruits, supplemented by vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

December 7, 2009

This month is flying! I am eagerly awaiting a couple of short weeks for work.  Will be SO lovely! coming up soon! Just a couple more weeks and yay!

I think my period is going to be starting sometime soon.  I have been craving chocolate like mad and also have a breakout on my face.  gaah! Have to love hormones.  Plus i feel a little bloated and a little crampy. My hubby massaged my belly for a little bit last night.  Made it feel a little better.

The whole popcorn scenario has FINALLY passed.  Geesh that only took 2 weeks!!!!! Next time i will remember it is NOT worth it! That is for sure.

My upcoming challenge is going to be Chanukah.  If anyone has any raw recipes for latkes would love to have one :) I love latkes, frankly i love potatoes.  BUT i am not supposed to be eating any now.  not only because of the raw thing but  because they are also one of the night shades which is supposedly and inflaming food.  I am trying to avoid nightshades right now.  Although i dont always succeed with the salads.  The cooked ones seem to flare up my knees though for sure. Anyhow, I will be making and at parties with lots and lots of latkes.  Oh geesh! I am going to need some help.  something yummy that i could have in replacement.  Last year I went ahead and ate them and then after Chanukah, i looked like i had a pregnant belly.  I am serious. My husband kept saying that my belly was his little baby belly. :( ugh.  I also let myself eat some "sun drops" at that point.  a chocolate from the health food store.  It was my one vice but not really a very healthy one and definitely not a weight losing one! ha! (i gave up the chocolate though again august of this year) Then i didn't  get it slimmed down until i went on a 4 day raw retreat the first week of april.  I still have some belly but not like it was then.  Not sure what my weight was then as i was not really weighing myself at that point of life.  you know.  When you dont feel good about yourself.  you tend to avoid the scale.  You already KNOW by looking at yourself you have weight to lose.

December 8, 2009

Today i got up 5 am, hubby went to start car.  wouldn't start.  After much trying, he finally got it going (with a jump) It is snowing while he is doing all this.  After it sits for awhile, i leave to go and teach class. Then it wants to die every time i push on the brake?? hmmmm... What the heck? So after going aways i turn around and come back home.  the class i teach early tuesday/thursday is 30 miles away.  (one way) i really didn't want to get stranded between here or there or there. So i come back home and call the students whose numbers i have.  seriously what a BUMMER!  Am sitting here hoping the others aren't upset. Darn.  well hopefully it is just the real cold weather that is making the car act up. It also would not start for my noon class. just totally dead.

Tonight we are having a bday party for my step son.  he is 14 now.  I know his grandparents are coming.  Hoping my parents (his step grandparents) will also come. will see.   Matts parents treat my kids no differently then their own grandkids.  Wish my parents would also do that.  My dad is getting better.  But it would be nice if they would come to parties and be at least KIND OF involved ya know.  Suppose you can't force that. needs to be a personal choice. As far as food, I am making some raw stuff to compliment the cooked stuff.  made my favorite raw chocolate pie, put another couple bananas in the freezer so i can make some banana ice cream, also making salad and having veggies and dip.  I am excited.  The GF cake is smelling tempting but i wont eat it.

Eating is going well.  I am still feeling all bloated. like pre-cycle.  i can tell it is coming.  wish it would just start already! yikes! it is not painful but i know my body and know what normal feels like.  i can just tell my belly is bloated. so would just like to get it over with. ha!

December 12, 2009

Well it is Chanukah.  It is going to be tough for me to stay as pure as normal but will do my best.  As all the fried oily food are VERY fattening! Overall not a bad day but not my best day ever.  Felt like i could have ate a ton more sufganiyot.  They are seriously soooo yummy and this is the first year my gluten free ones have actually turned out the way they were supposed to and not into a mushy mess.  So 2 not bad.  Sending the rest with kids to school tomorrow for their chanukah party :) My husband is happy to he got hot latkes, sufganiyot and gelt (chocolate).  I didn't eat any of that though. Hoping to not eat any more fried stuff this week.  Just make some raw treats for myself monday i hope! Tomorrow the kids have a chanukah party and i have lots of driving to take them to and from school since my hubby has to work tomorrow and can't do one of the shifts.  It is an hour, one -way. so 4 hours total  eek! December 15, 2009

Party was fun :) They had a ventriliquist there.  We had seen this same performer over the summer at the free library programs but was still fun to see again.  He is good.  The kids had a good time.  And hey it was good to see friends.  Often i feel like i dont get much socialness in my calendar.  A lot of work and kids (which i am THANKFUL for) but not a lot of just me time or play time or girl time. So was good :) Wish my husband could have come but they put him on overnights for the week :( so sad! i had hoped he could come to the party tomorrow night, but it isn't going to happen.  sigh.  maybe next year.  Will try to post up some pics from the party and from the zoo lights.

Oh we also made some chanukah houses yesterday.  The kids had a fun time with that :) This is the first year we have made them.  Anyhoo fun and messy project. ha!

Starting to see a couple of people again for personal training.  I am excited but still trying to decide what really i need to do.  Debating between doing more personal training or getting a course and studying medical transciptionist and doing that from home and hopefully finding a work from home job that i can set my own hours.  ideally when the kiddos are SLEEPING! will see where all that leads i suppose.  I want to be home with my babies more though. Ideally i would still teach at most 10 classes per week...... I want to stay active in the fitness field and still teach as i WANT to do that still when my kids are more grown but just not as much as i am now.  I would still go work out but just want it to be more on my terms and what i want to do and not what my schedule dictates i have to do.  Although i love it there are days when i do wish i could stay home.  When i have to go away from my kids i really just long to be with them.

Another party tonight! woohoo :) We are excited.  Seeing friends we have not seen for a couple of months so it wil be a good time.  The kids are looking forward to it.  As far as raw goes, well i can't promise i wont eat a latke.  Overall considering it is the holidays i do feel like i have been really good.  I ahven't really overindulged.  Have kept them to a minimal and kept the rest of my diet raw.  So blogging is helping me with that anyway.  I think last year i ate more fried than i am this year.

Started the prep for the liver cleanse yesterday.  hopefully it will be good and we get some results.  My hubby is doing it with me.  That is always nice.  He is at least open to trying my "crazy" things even though he doesn't always believe they will work.  So i hope that he gets a nice release of gall stones from doing this.  me too!

My poor daughter had/has a UTI.  ugh! anyhoo.  the tincture seems to be helping.  along with the coconut kefir and cranberry juice.  Last night no peeing in the bed like she had been because of this.  still going to the bathroom a lot b ut it has only been 3 days.  i was thrilled about the no peeing during the night thing and also not wet spots on her clothes so she is making it to the bathroom now in time anyway. poor dear.  so 3 days - i think that is a good sign that it should clear out soon.  NOW my ex has her thursday night to sat night this week ugh! he is so not responsible. i told him he HAS to stay on top of this.  she has to have the tincture every 2 hours no slacking and the other stuff she needs as well.  will see if he does it or if we end up back at level 0.  praying he just does the right thing.  maybe it is not irresponsible as much as laziness.  I really dont know.   Glad it is going away though.  She was not too thrilled with me washing her with the kefir but i was told that it would help to clear it up faster and also relieve some of the itching.

December 16, 2009

So i have realized i am a creature of habit and do really pretty well with my diet until holidays or special parties.  My diet has had some bad things sneak in there with Chanukah.  Parties are done now.  We went to another one last night.  I didn't do bad overall.  But i had hoped to stay all raw.  oh well! Tonight we are doing dinner at home then thursday i am working late and friday i am making raw meals and then i can get back on track with what i was doing pre-holiday.

Had to start getting a tooth fixed yesterday.  It is throbbing.  Had a broken tooth and had to have a core build up and still have to get a crown.  However those are really expensive! so hopefully in the next month or 2 can go and get that done.  Even with insurance is $400! ouch! yes i am picky and want porcelain.  it is $100 more and then i dont have toxic junk in my mouth. Hopefully the ache goes away soon.  The numbing stuff basically numbed the whole SIDE of my face and my chin! serious! I hate that they use so much stuff and then it took 9 hours to run out of my system.  Anyhoo taking some tumeric maybe that will help with some of the inflammation of the gums and all that.

Anyhoo.  The party last night was fun.  Saw friends we have not seen for awhile.  Kids had a good time.  Always good to reconnect with old friends.

Here are a few pics from the party on monday night :)

I am excited that my friday class is going to monday.  YAY! that means i will have more time to get ready for Shabbat now and if i get done early i can go and TAKE some classes or something instead.  Right now i never get home until almost noon and then i have 4 hours to get ready.  and yes i am usually stressed.  Summer is good.  But right now during winter.  Very hard to work that late and still be ready.  Anyhoo that starts next month.  I think i will try to fit in a yoga class or cycling class in the a.m. or something will have to check out the schedules and see what i can do.  But still even if i could be home at 9 or 9:30 that would be a massive improvement over noon! YAY! however i dont know what they are going to do with the rest of my schedule at one club and i am kind of nervous about that.  hopefully it all works out.  I need to keep teaching the same number of classes i am or start to go look for more work.  Ahhh the life of a fitness instructor.  Ever changing.  Have to know how to go with the flow and really push teh pedal to the medal when things take a turn.

There we go finally no fried food yesterday.  Think that was the end of it tuesday night.  Thank goodness! dont think my poor digestive tract could have handled anymore.  Seriously i only eat that stuff during chanukah each year.  The rest of the year i have NO desire for fried! ugh!

Here are a few pics from our week of Chanukah:

Here we are back to thursday.  took my early morning class off today.  too many late nights this week.  Needed to get some rest some TIME! eek!  Was soooo tired last night.  and smelly yes the fried foods are making my sweat stinky when i teach.  blah! it is definitely not that bad usually. 2 more nights of Chanukah but the kiddos are with their dad. :( That is one thing i really dislike about being divorced having to SHARE!  I enjoyed being around my kids all the time and really dislike that i have to miss parts of holidays with them.  ahhh well! BUT that being said there are other things i really do enjoy.  Like the fact that this holiday really means even more to me now, having the freedom to be able to practice my faith as i need/want to.  My ex there were so many things i could not do while married to him.

Anyhoo ready to get back to the grind now! so watch out body here we come.  :) only raw foods or beans again.

Going to finish up the liver cleanse sometime this weekend.  not sure when yet.  Guess we will see!  Excited about that.  Excited to see how it works.

oh also decided i am going to TRY to do cardio 2 times a day if i am not already.  Will see if i can fit it in.  obviously not on Shabbat, but the rest of the week.  Maybe that will help with the weight loss.  I want to see my goal.  Anyhoo will do what i can ;) Have it out there in my thoughts as something i WANT to do anyway!

December 18, 2009

FRIDAY! thank goodness! 2 or 3 classes to teach and then grocery shopping? maybe. If any of my bosses pay me early.  Pay day is the 20th.

My back is spasming super bad today.  oy.  It really really hurts. and my knees are hurting.  Not sure why this week has been so tough.  But am thankful for a short week next week.  Plan on taking some classes on thursday or doing something but wont have to push full speed if i dont feel up to it.  Or may do just yoga.  I dont know.  Will see.  I am sooooo very tired.  Not sure what is going on.  Maybe it is detox? Maybe i need a day to just sleep? dont know.  I am just having a brain fog today for some reason and ma not feeling very with it.  Teaching was tough.  Hard to teach when everything hurts and you are exhausted.

Still trying to decide what day to do the finale of the liver cleanse.  I am thinking probably sunday.  Hopefully after that some energy will come! fingers crossed.

Anyhoo,  I needed a treat and a mental lift today so went out to the raw restaurant here in town.  Delicious! I love their food.  ordered a raw cheeseburger with onion rings. mmmmm!!! so delish.  still tired, but so very yummy.  I wanted to get one of the raw deserts but only had enough $ for the main meal.  It was a toss up between the burger and the hummus wrap.  both sounded fab.

oh yesterday i was starving after i got home from teaching all the classes and i ate 2 servings lentil vegetable soup, very large spinach salad with guacamole on top, banana ice cream and some hot tea.  finally got full after that.  i was super duper hungry! the spinach has really been hitting the spot lately.  must be something in there that i am needing.

I am too tired to write really anything exciting today.  SOOOO I will close with this.

Here is a pic of me from a little ealier this month at my stepson bdays party.

better day today.  not food wise necessarily.  i did have 2 gluten free pancakes.  oops! it was a choice though.  We are about out of the raw foods but tomorrow IS pay day.  yay! so will go and stock up again tomorrow.

Things worked themselves out and today ended up being much happier.  I am glad.  Couldn't stand having many days like yesterday.  that is 4 sure.

I am very proud of my husband for doing this cleanse with me.  He has been a trooper.  Today is the finale of it.  Will see what tomorrow brings!  hopefully lots of stones passing through my body. (and my husbands).  we were supposed to stop eating at 2 pm.  Hence the reason for not much food today.  I was also going to go to a spin class this afternoon at 3 pm BUT i realized i am not supposed to have water after 2 pm SO didn't go as i couldn't survive spin class with no water and i dont think it would be good for me anyway.  Maybe tomorrow i can go to a spin class.  Will have to see.  I do want to GO to a class tomorrow and this week.  Go fill up my energy tank.  To be able to give more back again.

December 21, 2009

Cleanse.  done.  Didn't get as much as i wanted or had hoped for.  But i also could not chug a lug the juice with 1/2 cup olive oil.  It said if you were prone to nauseousness to do 1/2 of that.  So i did.  I got it down.  Today i feel somewhat ill to my stomach though not horrible.  Anxious to hear how my hubby did.  He got it all down.  and fell fast asleep.  he had to get up at 3:30 am though today and go to work.  He had to get off early because of a dr appointment.  physical.  So  i wont get to hear until tonight probably.  I did pass SOME though.  So that is good.  It said you needed to do it twice.  So i will try again in a couple of weeks.  Maybe next time more will come out.  I am far from the 2000 needed though it said to clear up allergies.

So i will start to weigh myself again as of tomorrow.  I really dont want to get on the scale after drinking that much olive oil.  ugh!  Am going to try to do more cardio and more yoga.  The question will be if i can do it.  ha! I am determined to get some weight off though.  I know go all raw! 100% raw and it drops pretty quickly.  I should.  And will  these short weeks for sure.  I have a hard time keeping 100% raw and working as much as i do.  But my goal is to be 100% raw for these 2 weeks and start the new year that way.  Will plan some yummy food so hopefully that will help me :)  Will just make it for everybody. There is definitely a difference between high raw and all raw.  Although i initially lost 35 pounds by being high raw 9 years ago or however long ago it was now.  time has kind of all blurred together it was before my first marriage so 2000.  The year before that.  That was after being stuck with all that extra weight for years and exercising my butt off and not being able to get it off.  I was amazed with the diet changes that it came off so easily.  loved it!!!!!  Not sure why now it has to be such a struggle.  ha! will go back to journaling my food in fitday as well.  I didn't over the holidays.  well because i was not eating as good as i usually do and i knew it.  I didn't need fitday to tell me that! ;) foods fried in oil = high fat.  yup.

Friday my muscles totally crashed.  All those toning classes, i normally do 2 cardio and 4 toning classes between thursday and friday.  But last week i did 6 toning/strength classes and i totally bonked my muscles.  oy! i was a hurting unit.  I came home and could literally hardly move.  So just crashed out on the couch and watched a movie for awhile until i could get up to start making some food.  And i couldn't hardly think either. i think my brain had shut off! ha!  My thoughts were definitely confused up.  ugh.  I wont do that again that is for sure.

Short week of work this week! I am EXCITED!!!! YAY!  Am going to take some classes though this week.  Maybe weds/thursday.  Friday everything will be closed.  Hoping to convince my hubby to go out on a walk with me but we will see.  I know we are going to his parents for lunch.  He will probably make his chicken enchiladas.  He can't make them here at the house.  well because he couldn't make them and have them be kosher.  mixing meat and dairy.  I always just pack my own food when we go over to their house.  It works.  I want to make something yummy this year.  Will see what.  I made a coconut chocolate cake that was raw that my MIL really enjoyed.   And i did too but i may try something i haven't made yet.  To be creative.  I dont know.  Have to look at my recipes when i get back from teaching this morning and put together my shopping list!!!! :)

just found out about a raw desert book that is supposed to be FAB! oh i really want this book!!!! Have heard only good things about it.  If you haven't gotten it might want to check it out.

December 22, 2009

Well i survived the holidays :) didn't gain too much weight. 2 pounds.  ick! well on the bright side it could have been WORSE! with the change in diet to include some fried food.  so hopefully now that i am being accountable to the scale again and not just pretending like it doesn't exist.  The weight will start dropping off again :) May tomorrow be a good day! :) and numbers go down and all week long!  Am going to do some extra cardio this week.  hopefully that will help too.  Although i already work out like a crazy person.

Today my car the battery didn't want to stay on and then on my way home from class well.... it wasn't pretty the temp gauge jumped up to AS HOT as possible.  Thankfully i was only 1 mile from home.  But i got home and it started smoking massively from underneath the hood.  ugh! i so need a new car but sadly we can not afford one! this one is conking out little bit by little bit.

both kids seems like they are fighting a cold.  so off to bed they will go early tonight! also pumping them up with lots of fresh oj and d3.  i will have to get some sambucol when my car is up and running again! this happens every year after Chanukah and they get lots of fried food and sugar.  both kids crash and get sick.  the rest of the year the year they are pretty healthy over all.....

December 23, 2009

oh my! the raw sushi is SOOO incredibly DELISH! i LOVED it! took some pics they are below.  was so super yummy! i normally dont like turnips but really you could not taste.  This was my first endeavor with trying to make sushi so my wraps are not perfect.  but really mmmmm.... This is a recipe i would recommend to all! easy to make and super good! Made a large salad to go with it and also the gingerbread balls.  perfect! also had some fresh pineapple/apple juice.  mmmmm.

my step kids on the other hand. Did their usual and sit there and stare at the meal.  hoping it will just disappear.  i dont feel too badly.  I made them eggs with toast for breakfast and hot dogs for lunch.  so come on, a little healthy dinner wont kill ya. Although they probably will conveniently forget about the rest of the food i made them during the day tha they enjoyed and only remember the meal they didn't like.  usually works that way around here.  My son didn't look so thrilled either.  My daughter enjoyed though :) My son follows my step sons lead though more unfortunately. prior to this marriage he never complained about the food that i made and always happy with what he got.  not that way anymore.  now he copies their behavior.  which definitely doesn't exactly thrill me.  but it is what it is.

Tonight i think we are going on a date.  Which will be nice :) then i am going to do some scrapbooking.  Always fun :) A hobby i truly enjoy! aside from physical activities :)

Have a happy day all! I hope some of the other bloggers return soon! I would enjoy to read some of their adventures in addition to my own :)

Went to a yoga class this a.m. was HOPING to get to spinning.  However, i got in there and it was fULL no bikes available :( boo! yoga was good though.  a very flowing intense class so still got in a nice workout and left feeling fairly "zen" :) Went out and got a few last minutes groceries.  and well not much else exciting for the day.  To anyone who celebrates it have a merry xmas and healthy day!

Here is a pic of my white chocolate pie from yesterday:

It was YUMMY! mmmmm! however, the cacao did not set right with me.  i was jittery and agitated and felt like i had drank a bunch of coffee.  i wont be having anymore cacao.  Aside from that the taste was DELISH.  think i am super sensitive to caffeine.

December 27, 2009

So the last 2 days i ate "ok" I had lots of salad and green smoothies, but i also ate 2 pieces of rice bread with fresh almond butter on it.  Xmas is stressful for me.  Didn't used to be but is since i got remarried.  My husband celebrates it and i dont as i am Jewish.  I tried this year to be more "into it" for him.  as last year he was so unhappy but in the process just felt not so cool with myself.  That is not my holiday.  I dont personally care about all the roman calendar holidays.  That is meant as no offense to anybody who might be reading this.  I just dont.  I care about the Jewish holidays.  but the others can come and go and really it doesn't mean much to me.  Anyhow so i ate the rice bread and also did absolutely zilch for exercise. definitely not a good combo.  Today i just feel kind of frumpy and fat.  ick!

Thought this article was really good and wanted to share the link to it:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/12/29/The-7-Foods-Experts-Wont-Eat.aspx

Had a good day yesterday.  way to  busy though.  to much gone from home time.  i subbed a class in a neighboring town so lots of extra drive time.  plus i took my daughter to get her pic done professionally.  haven't had a 4 year old picture done yet and she is 4 1/2! eek!

Today is going to be busy too.  Although i hope to make it to the library with the kids and the park to play.  Think hubby is going to take me out on a date later tonight.  that will be fun :) Maybe we will go out to the raw restaurant.  that would be a treat.  i would love to have some falafel and hummus on a wrap...... mmmmmm..... will see though.  i know he wants to go to a movie or something.   not even sure what is out there.

Need to also go grocery shopping today.  our kitchen is looking kidn of bare again.  It amazes me how quickly we seem to roll through food! Will try to take pics on the "new year" day that way i know what i am starting at.  would like to hit my goal weight by summer.  spring would be nice though.  would like to look and feel good about myself this summer and before the upcoming jewish new year.   I know i can do it.  Just need to stick with it and stay committed.  will start running with my fitday logs again starting friday.

December 30, 2009

So the roman calendar new year is coming up, for me i already made ideas for changes i wanted to see happen at Rosh HaShanah. Most had to do with my hubby and my character.  not so much with weight loss or stuff like that.  I am proud though of my hubby and the things he is proposing to do for 2010.  I hope i can be a full support to him and help him with all his goals.  I am excited for him and it makes me excited to get back on it.

Really i have been doing good but if i want to drop some pounds i have to stay all raw whether i am working out or not.  BUt i am always working out as it is my job.  ha!  So guess i should get back on the all raw bandwagon.

Last night hubby did take me out for dinner.  It was so fabulous.  the collard wraps with raw hummus and raw falafels.  oh my gosh! so delicious! i forgot to put on my log for yesterday that i also had some dandelion root tea.  or i think i did anyway, it isn't up yet.  I was a little scared to try it.  But the menu said it tasted nutty or chocolatey.  it really was GOOD! wish that was something you could buy in the store.  I know there is lots of benefits to eating dandelion.  I love the leaves and that is actually one of my favorite juices.  You just can't get them right now.  So come spring i will hopefully once again be dining on pineapple/dandelion green juice! mmmmm! the thought of it makes me salivate. :)

Making some raw chocolates today and a raw chocolate pecan pie.  The pie is for tomorrow night when we go to my inlaws.  the chocolates well those are just for around here at home :) hoping they come out yummy! will post up some links if they do! and pics :)

Also on jan 1 when i am taking pics of my hubby for the start of his journey, i will have him take some pics of me.  Some better pics.  like from the side and full length and all that.  I have been neglectful in doing that thus far.  And i guess well i have just been busy.  So look for those at the start of january.  Then i can really start documenting my progress.  Also need to get a tape measure.  So i can take his measurements and mine!  That really can be motivating because you sometimes lose inches where as you dont lose pounds when you are reshaping.  So that is a must as well.  And yes i will post them.  That way i dont have to hang onto a piece of paper, i will just put it out there for anyone who might be reading to see.

Tomorrow is going to be  busy, going to start the day working out.  Then going up to a friends house.  back home and maybe some sledding or a movie or both.  HAven't decided yet.  Then off to my inlaws!  phew wont hardly be home at all.

December 31, 2009

Last day of the month.  can't believe it.  Well survived all the holidays.  time to get serious again about diet and exercise.  At least i stayed within 2 pounds of where i started.  I am getting that crampy nauseous type of feeling, but that probably means my cycle is like a week away.  (maybe i need to go and buy a kombucha on my way out that always helps with stomach issues and calming them down) i am so tired today.  really i would just like to stay home and watch movies with the kids and well do NOTHING! Instead i have a full day planned of activities and tomorrow too....... I dont know what i was thinking.  I guess i was thinking i wanted to make the most of my days off.  I didn't have to work today.  The gyms are closed today and tomorrow that i teach at.  But now that it is here i dont want to.  oh well.  Our friends are expecting us.  I am sure the kids will have a blast.  Think we are going to do some sledding and then not sure what else. Then we are coming back home picking up my daughters friends and heading over to see a movie at the theatre! This is a treat for them as they only get to go once every 1/2 year or so.  It is a surprise so that will be fun :) Tonight we are going to my in-laws house! I have salad made, some veggies and dip (which my daughter already wanted to get into.  she loves veggies!), raw chocolate pecan pie (so excited to try!) and a veggie gluten free pizza for teh kids.  no not raw. but they will get plenty of the raw stuff too.  Everyone else is going to be feasting on treats and stuff.  We do the best we can around the holidays.  Tomorrow i will go back to being serious with their diet as well.  Every year after Chanukah they get runny noses and they are still fighting with that! Have been giving them the d3 and sambucol.  That usually helps clear it out but it is not helping this time.  I can only think that their dad is continuing to feed them sugar where as i have cut it out except for the raw treats which i have been making.  I always let them have those.  Overall though i am happy with their diet,  they get lots of salads, fruit and green smoothies.  nuts in raw treats.  I think it is pretty balanced.  When i hear about kids not getting enough servings of fruit and veggies i wonder exactly well what ARE they eating? but then i dont have to look far.  My step sons probably dont get their quota of fruits and veggies.  I make salads and stuff while they are here.  Give them a fruit with their breakfast.  But they really are not into that whole scene.  They would rather have soda pop, hamburgers, pasta, macaroni, pizza, chips, candy.  That is more their thing.  But that is what their mom feeds them so???? guess that is the eating habits that they are learning.   I guess i have a hard time understanding why anyone would think that was a healthy diet, but perhaps they dont care? And just want what they want.  I dont know.
