Why does life have to be so complex? Yesterday it was so hard to not just emotionally eat. But i didn't. Instead i spent the day crying. I know it is better to feel the emotions. But honestly i would have liked to have stuffed them down with food at least then i could have felt better temporarily. But i stood strong am proud of myself for that.

Now hopefully today will be ok as well. Thank goodness only one class. pulling myself together all of yesterday was so hard. so hard to be peppy and happy when i just wanted to be doing stuff to take care of my life. The part that is important. My KIDS!

day 1 - back to 100% raw

doing a raw food lunch and monavie tasting party tomorrow. am so excited! get to share the best of both worlds with a lot of people tomorrow! have almost 20 people coming! WOW! our house is small so it is going to be packed! ha! hoping for a nice day though so we can eat outside. Think i am going to start off with demo's on making almond mylk, green smoothies and raw soup. May have some people help me. from there we can eat and go outside and i will do a small teaching why certain foods are good for you and what nutrients they have, where you get your calcium and protein in a raw food diet. Need to get that together today! then come back in for some monavie. and yay! :) doing another one next week. wow! should be great though!!!! :)

wanted to do a product review for the beautiful on raw shampoo and conditioner. It has made A HUGE difference in the condition in my hair. My hair was horrible because the hair stylist toasted it with a perm :( but after 6 weeks on the shampoo/conditioner it looks normal again. YES! i can wear normal hairstyles again and no more little girl bear ears. unless i want to do it that way. so NICE to be able to wear my hair down again! I highly recommend this stuff. It is all natural. and works FABULOUS!!!! it lasted me and my kids, a bottle of each, for 6 weeks. So worth the money. really! you can check it out at www.beautifulonraw.com

I just ordered her hair tonic. Now going to experiment and see if it will help my hair to grow longer! my hair has never gotten past my shoulders so now is the test :) will review it when i run out and let you know what i thought. It does smell fabulous. I will give it that.

I also LOVE her masque and moisturizer. it is really high quality. and my face does look better when i use it regularly. for people like me who have allergies and sensitivities. none to this. Very natural. LOVELY smell! and makes your skin and face just feel very very fabulous and pampered :)

I love Tonya's stuff!!!! She has definitely put a lot of work into developing a good line of stuff!!!!

So going back to 100% raw again. No more falling back into my old patterns time to jump back on the wagon. I noticed while eating any cooked food i do get really bad gas :( blah! and my tummy doesn't seem to digest it very well. Also i get break outs on my face and when eating all raw my face looks fabulously clear and glowing :) This time would be nice if it were forever but am shooting for 30 days to start :)

day 3 - back to 100% raw

I really dont understand people. I am a open and honest person. I trust everybody and believe the best about them all the time. It has once again turned around and bit me in the butt. over the most stupid of things really. I dont even get it nor do i have a clue. unfortunately i have to keep dealing with this person and i can't just write it off because she is hte mother of my daughters really good friend. Also she is a student at one of the clubs. We have hung out a lot over the last 2 years and i just really dont understand her sudden flip. people are so odd. i dont think i will ever understand. i am generally just a happy and trusting person. I love people. all people not just certain kinds. I think everybody has something special about them and that their life is valuable. when someone who you considered to be a fairly good friend turns on you out of the blue and wont give you an explanation well it hurts. my heart hurts right now. my body hurts. my brain hurts. aiiiii!!!!! Why???? that is all i can say. Can't we all just love each other? That would be nice!!!! Love each other, love the planet, love the animals.......... yes i am into the whole love thing. I think if everybody felt that way perhaps the world would be a much nicer place. I am so tired of angry people and people flaring their angry emotions on me. I am not a verbal punching bag thank you very much.

Aside from the odd situation with the gal i thought was a good friend and now is ??? well the day has been pretty good.

day 6 - 100% raw

Yeah FRIDAY! my kiddo (son) was sick yesterday.  he threw up once and ran a fever all day.  gave him monavie and also fresh pineapple/oj.  This a.m. he is all better, up and running around again :) so glad.  poor guy.  not sure what he had but was happy he wanted to stay here with me yesterday.  his dad gave him a choice as he was supposed to go there last night.  but he wanted to stay with mom :) makes me feel good anyway.

Last night was tough to teach the ZUMBA ha! my insides felt as if i had swallowed a watermelon.  But that is gone today.  I still get a bloat on the first day of the cycle.  But i was surprised i didn't get my severe grouchy's like has been my pattern the day b4.  Normally the day b4 my cycle is going to start i am like a volcano ready to blow.  and little things really aggravate me.  It is just one day and then the next day i am fine.  THis month that didn't happen YAY! so happy because i hate being around MYSELF the day b4 my cycle starts.  i am sure that is how everyone else feels as well. :)

So i have been drinking monavie for a month now.  in the last month I have more energy in the morning.  I drink that b4 i go to class and i feel energetic and ready to roll and really excited to be there.  normally my early morning classes (or b4) i was sleepy too and not always as energetic as i would be for a little later class.  So i thought that was really cool benefit.  Also my neck and shoulder and knee pain is gone! woohoo! it had gotten so bad prior to the retreat that i was constantly grabbing at my neck and shoulders wishing/praying the pain would go away and wishing i could whack my head off.  That is gone too!!!! my knees i can jog!!!!! JOG! wooohoo! i can go up stairs without having to hold onto a rail to help brace myself and i can walk up them normally not leading one leg constantly.  These things to me are HUGE! i am so excited! It is like my life has done a turn around from where it was going post car accident.  So those are the benefits i have noticed thus far.  I am also excited that it is a natural source of b-12.  So that is excellent for me and the kids! since they have been vegan their entire lives and i have been vegan for 14 years now.  It has the full spectrum on vitamins (even though it is not a vitamin it is all natural fruits!) so kind of like a multivitamin too :) Anyhoo.  have my kiddos drinking it too as i am concerned that they get their b-12 as well.  want them to be as well nourished and healthy as they can be.  My skin also seems to be clearer.  it was pretty blotchy there for awhile.  now it is clear and kind of glows :)

Excited for the weekend and for the Sabbath :) Next week hopefully i can go back to making a bunch of yummy raw foods for the family again.  This week we had a lot of leftovers from the raw lunch on monday.  i seriously made a TON of food and it lasted through weds night! wow!  Trying to come up with yummy stuff to prepare for the family for next week.

Sunday i have to go to a work training which i am less than excited about.  boohoo! i would rather go out on a bike ride with the family or a hike. i dont want to be stuck doing this long 6 hour work training.  it is not something that directly impacts my teaching it is a club policy that you have to go to this training to continue working at the club..... soooo.... away i will go!

day 11 - 100%

woohoo. day 11. nice. 19 more days to hit my 30 day goal. will see where i am at at that point. been doing well with drinking lots of green smoothies. trying to mix them up. also doing pretty good and keeping up some of my healthy habits. still not getting yoga in 6 days a week but i am doing what i can. have SO much going on in my personal life. i will be glad when a) car accident stuff is resolved (the monavie has helped with pain but still working with holistic exercise practioner to relengthen muscles and reset body where it is supposed to be. i hope! hopeful though to be ALL done by summer, then we will see what the insurance company will do. hopefully it will not have to go to court, but it may. i dont know. this last year sure has been a ride.) b) custody case with my ex. blah! - 2 big overlooming things. but trying to keep chipper. hoping both go ok. praying that way that is for sure. we are close to being done with school for the year. that is kind of exciting. still have some math, science and little bit of art. i am shooting to be totally done by end of may. he has really done a good job this year with staying on top of stuff. this year has been a good school year. next year i try to BOTH of the kiddos. that is going to be an adventure. i really need my life to slow down a little bit b4 that. i have my medical transcription stuff i want to get through this summer b4 i start school with both of them this fall. then hopefully i can rearrange my schedule. we shall see.

last night we went up to my inlaws for dinner. i brought some raw fudge and then some watermelon and a fruit salad. was yummy. nice to have a raw fudge treat.

however i think all the stress i am under is causing me to have an acid stomach. it is not upset but i can tell it is very acidic right now. blah! hopefully that goes away soon!

April 23, 2010

day - 100% raw

so excited to be down another 1/2 pound. woohoo. now to just keep on keeping on and staying away from the GRAINS! that does it to me every time finds those lovely pounds and puts them back on. Honestly i think i am allergic to all grains. I have other issues with them besides weight gain. So obviously it was not meant to be. ha! oh well. so happy to get on the scale and seeing nice numbers. hoping to be down another pound by the end of the weekend. By the end of the 30 days I would like to be down 10 pounds..... but we will see :) as long as it keeps going down i will be happy. My husband thinks i am on a "no eating diet" funny guy. obviously i am eating and eating a pretty good amount. I eat til i am satisfied or eat when i am hungry. Trying not to eat when i am stressed. I am mega stressed right now but need to just deal with my emotions and not stuff it down with food. That is not a healthy habit. and one i am really trying to get away from. it wont make me feel any better in the long run to put food into my body for that reason.

So this weekend i need to make a bunch of raw foods for my family. I got off track last week with that, with having to deal with lawyers and extra things. So this weekend i am going to try to get caught up and prepared again! My kids are easy but my hubby and his kids require more work and prep time to make them stuff.

the monavie is still helping with my energy levels. in the a.m. i get up and am soooo tired and then after i drink that i have a lot of energy. so thankful for that. This mornign i was exhausted when i woke up. it has been a long and draining week. So glad it is the weekend. Hope i can get my batteries recharged.

April 24, 2010

day 14- 100% raw (2 weeks!!!!!)

Had to stay home for Shabbos this week. my car had a flat and it has been raining raining raining here. my friend who i usually stay with her apartment got flooded! bummer! she had this happen last year too :( and she ended up having to get rid of a lot of her stuff! hopefully nothing will have gotten ruined this time and the landlords will be quick about getting it cleaned up this time. Last time it took awhile and she ended up with mold in her apartment. yikes! poor thing!

So i went to bed early (my husband had went out with a friend he hadnt seen for awhile) and slept in until sometime after 9 am. Was nice. :) That like never happens :) I have been under so much stress i am sure that the extra sleep did me some good :)

Yesterday i spent a good chunk of time trying to figure out some of the papers the attorney wanted/needs me to fill out. That was fun. ummm yeah! ha! I did get some things started on teh dehydrator and i have a menu plan for this week so that is good :) Am excited to be preparing the raw meals for the entire family. But at least i got some started anyhow. I may get a few more things on the dehydrator later this evening, definitely tomorrow. Need to have stuff ready to go. Yesterday i made sea crackers and "cheezy crackers" - excited to try those! tomorrow i want to make the nuggets for a sweet and sour meal i am making later this week and some really YUMMY veggie burgers! mmmm! Those were sooo good! (and no nuts! so low fat) Then i have some deserts and cookies i want to make for the kids. They do better with raw when they have treats at the house too. If i have treats for them, they are generally pretty happy. Other stuff i want to make later during the week. Ahhhhhh! not to just stay on top of it.

I am so excited i have made it to 2 weeks. That is half of my goal for right now. Obviously if i am doing well i am going to keep going. We are rolling into summer when it is really pretty easy to be all raw with all the varieties of fruits and veggies available. It is winter i have a harder time. Benefits i have noticed from being 100% raw vs high raw.
1. I feel more even keel. Even under GREAT amount of stress, i am managing to hold it together.
2. My digestion is actually functioning normal. When i eat any cooked well i end up with really bad gas (really bad blah!) and bloated and i dont process the food very good. I dont have as many BM and they are harder. My husband can tell when i have eaten some cooked just because i end up usually having gas all night long. I kid you not. Obviously there is something in there my body doesn't like. I believe that i actually have grain allergies to all of them. It definitely is the grains that set me off. once i get an excalibur i am going to play with some dehydrated/sprouted breads and see if those cause the same effects. So i have better digestion. That is another definite plus!
3. my skin looks better. my complexion looks a lot better on all raw vs high raw. I will take another pic at the beginning of may. I think it looks a ton better.
4. the skin flap on my butt has almost totally gone away. the one i was not aware of until hubby pointed it out to me. ha! but he says it is almost gone. so hopefully b4 the month is up.

so i had someone ask me why monavie would benefit a raw foodist. This came in an email. Well - I will tell you that the raw food alone was not healing up my injuries from my car accident. I had GREAT success with raw when i first did it. My body healed up chronic fatigue syndrome, horrible acne, endometriosis, underactive thyroid..... I was really pretty sick when i first ventured on this journey. All those things cleared up on a high raw diet. Also i had had a really hard time losing weight. After 7 months of high raw, i had lost around 35 to 40 pounds. I felt great! The cooked i was eating was very little processed stuff - beans, manna bread, etc. The raw has saw me through many ups and downs. When i was pregnant i maintained high raw and both of my children came out beautifully!!!!! I had beautiful children and beautiful births. I am getting older now and my body has been more beat up. Not only from my job and my active life. but the car accident in march 2009. Really set my body over the edge. My knees were in constant pain. The orthopedic drs prognosis for me was that i would have to have steroid shots in my knees for the rest of my life along with seeing a physical therapist off and on the rest of my life. Doesn't THAT sound great? Also the whiplash had resurfaced in my neck and upper back. It had still stayed there but the pain had been "tolerable" though not wonderful. It started getting worse and worse and worse, it was to the point i was constantly yanking on my neck and shoulders. and trying to massage out the pain. I was begging/praying for relief constantly and relief just was not coming. I was wishing i could chop my head off most days and my legs from the knees down. I couldn't walk up the stairs without hold on to the rail. I could not really do anything outside of my job because my body just hurt too much when i wasn't working all i really wanted to do was SIT. My kids beg me to play and run with them. I could not. My life had been totally changed and uprooted from this young girl who pulled in front of me NOT paying attention. :( I went on the retreat and they were trying out monavie - an acai berry juice combined with some other jungle berries. and by the end of the week - WOW my neck was not hurting. my shoulders were NOT hurting. I could go up the stairs. My hubby the biggest skeptic of all still didn't believe it was the juice. The lady who ran the retreat gave me some leftover bottles from tasting parties until my hubby agreed yes indeed it was the juice that was helping me and he said i could order it! It has changed my life for the positive. So why a superfood? Well our regular foods on the ORAC chart, the highest is raspberries that has a score of a little over a hundred. The acai berries, flash dried the way they are have a score of over 1000!!!!!! I am sold on it. The raw alone was not enough to help me with my injuries. It was just too much. I hate to say that. This is also great for people who dont want to change their diet. I know many who have had incredible results both raw and non-raw. I no longer live with the daily constant pain. For that i am forever thankful! I apparently needed some superfood in my body. This is a blend of 19 different berries. the king of them being the acai. This is blended up of fruits for the most part we can not get here in the states. So it is stuff we dont have access to, to just eat. Also this blend has all the different vitamins in it. Including b-12. Which is hard to get if you are a vegan and also essential esterified fatty acids. It is great all around. And even though i have been raw for a long time and fully believe in the benefits of raw. this superfood in particular i would recommend to everyone - raw or not. I believe that it can help do amazing things in your body. If you had asked me before the retreat if i would really believe in claims of superfoods i would have said no. But i have my students always asking me now how my knee is and when i tell them i am no longer in any pain they are also amazed because they saw how i was. I would do my job but be hurting while i was doing it. so YAY to the acai berry and monavie! It has been a HUGE blessing to me! (one other side note i also have WAY more energy while drinking the monavie. I generally get up at 5 am each day and my body is yes still tired. I go and drink some monavie and i have an energy burst for most of the day until the evening around 8:30ish when i am ready to crash. But it lasts me ALL day long. before even with raw i would get fairly tired mid day. I have a job where i am in and out and constantly pushing pushing pushing. So me this has also been amazing.)

Anyhoo!!! on another topic, I found a really interesting program online. I did bootcamp with her once before and it was fabulous (and tough!). here is a program she designed to help teach your body hungry and full. We, as a society, eat for so many other reasons other than being hungry. I think i am going to try this starting next friday! kind of excited about that! it lasts 4 days. possibly more depending on how you are responding to the program. I highly respect Carlene. Take a peek and see what you think. http://www.carlenejones.com/Free_Weight_Loss_Workshop.php
Take a look at my journal next friday and see what i experience by trying it for the 4 days. :)

Although overall i really believe 100% raw gives me more control and a better handle on what i stick into my mouth. I think i am doing better at eating because i am hungry and not because i am stressed or angry. I feel satisfied most of the time. Except when i dont have time to shop and dont have something that sounds good in the fridge. I have a better handle on cravings. The treats are there if i want them. If i dont want them, they can stay there until i do want them. Although the kids usually gobble them up pretty fast! ha! I love that feeling of being in control! I will admit on high raw i dont experience that same sensation. I get lots of cravings. Want to have some beans or maybe Gluten free foods. 100% vs high raw. wow what a difference. I know as i have done all raw for periods before. Life just got in the way and well i had fallen off that band wagon for awhile. It can be challenging to be different sometimes if you let it, but only if you get into that mindset. If you stay in the mindset that raw is fabulous and beautiful! and you love the way it makes your body feel and that you dont HAVE to be "like" everybody else. It really is good. When you know it is OK to brgin your own food and not feel like you are going to be offending somebody. When you do what you need to for YOU because you LOVE yourself and want to take care of yourself. When it becomes about you, not in a selfish way but in way that you actually CARE and LOVE yourself i think that is a good thing. So much of the time we sabotage ourselves probably not consciously out of self loath. whether it is, i am not good enough, i am not thin enough. All that negative thinking really does us no good! We should try to think positively about ourselves and about the beautiful and wonderful body we were given to live in and to take care of it the best way that we can. I think with that we can find more happiness and more love not only for ourselves but for others as well. How can we truly love someone else if we can't truly love ourself? Ahhhh ok just my thoughts for the day!!!!
