Had a hard time today after working overtime. I spent nearly an hour preparing and packing tons of food the night before. I ate it all and then by the time I got off work, I was starving. We went to Farm Fresh (grocer) thinking I'd get the salad bar and she'd get soup from the soup bar. Nothing looked appealing and I had no intention of spending so much on a salad bar salad that I could easily make at home, and know it was fresh. So we went through the produce section. I picked through disgusting produce, pulled a few batches of leafy green lettuce out, put them in the cart, and carried on. After not finding any non-wimpy celery, I got pissed off and walked out. We went home, with me pouting and pissy the whole way. I scrounged around the mostly empty fridge and freezer and ended up making 2 veggie grilled chicken patties and a bag of Alexia potato mix (minus the oil blend packet that came with it). Steph had potatoes and the leftover burger that I had gotten her from my free end of the month lunch on Friday. My whole attitude changed after eating. I was relaxed and at peace, like a drug addict having just gotten her fix. I didn't consider it too terribly bad, though I'm sure the Morningstar grilled veggie patties aren't vegan...now that Kellogg's owns them.

Had an extremely tiring day. I was low energy and agitated. I did not have enough time to eat lunch, and by the time I got in the car to head home I was falling fast. I started crying and feeling like everything was so hopeless. It was ridiculous, because both Steph and I knew that it was all likely due to my being hungry. When I finally sat down to have dinner, I once again felt a huge sense of relaxation come over me. I definitely definitely have to take care of myself, and force myself to make the time to keep eating throughout the day, and not just snacks, either. I feel a million times better now and have more energy this evening than I've had all day. It really shows how healthy foods give you energy and how unhealthy foods drain your energy.

I'm going to be taking a hiatus from blogging on this site and posting on the From SAD to RAW Facebook fan page.
May 23, 2010
Someone emailed me this week and mentioned she bought the book, Raw: The UnCook Book, but was feeling quite overwhelmed. I shared a few books that likely would be a better start for a newbie to raw...since Juliano's book, while great for raw gourmet, can be quite extensive and intense for someone new to raw.
Thought I'd share the books I suggested to her...

Call for Action to my wonderful From SAD to RAW readers...
By now you've heard about the UNBELIEVABLE torture of newborn calves and cows at the Conklin Dairy Farm in Ohio. If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard, by the time you're done with this blog post, you will know all you need to know to help make a difference in the lives of these abused animals.
Please do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you can to help make sure these ef'ing cowards are put away for the rest of their natural born lives (or the max of 3 years and $750 fine....pathetic, but let's at least get him that)...
Read the full story which initially broke on 5/25/10
See what one of the ef'ers looks like (I'd REALLY like to have some quality alone time with this beast)
Watch the actual video of the abuse (FYI the video starts immediately - watch the WHOLE thing; the animals didn't get to look away as they were being tortured, so bare witness on their behalf)
See what the experts say about what the animals went through
Visit the website of the organization, Mercy for Animals, who went undercover to investigate and catch the ef'ers torturing these beautiful creatures
